Doula Services Under Commercial Insurance and Medi-Cal

Commercial Insurance plans as well as Medi-Cal now cover prenatal, birth and postpartum doula services for their members!

What Services are Covered?

The standing recommendation authorizes the following doula services:

• 1 initial 90 min visit
• 8 additional visits - these can be a combination of prenatal and postpartum visits
• 2 extended three-hours postpartum visits - reserved for after the end of a pregnancy.

With a written recommendation from a physician or other licensed practitioner of the healing arts, members may also be eligible for up to 9 additional postpartum visits.

• Kaiser
• Valley Health Plan
• Santa Clara Family Health Plan 
• Anthem Blue Cross - Medi-Cal Only Commercial coming soon!
