Doula Services Under Commercial Insurance and Medi-Cal

Commercial Insurance plans as well as Medi-Cal now cover prenatal, birth and postpartum doula services for their members!

Umi Care exclusively  provides postpartum doula services to our clients under their insurance benefits in San Jose.

What Services are Covered?

The standing recommendation authorizes the following doula services:

• 1 initial visit
• 8 additional visits - these can be a combination of prenatal and postpartum visits
• 2 visits up to three hours - these visits are exclusively for postpartum and are in addition to the 9 visits listed above

With a written recommendation from a physician or other licensed practitioner of the healing arts, members may also be eligible for up to 9 additional postpartum visits.

Umi Care is currently in network with the following Managed Care Providers (MCP) and Insurance plans:

• Kaiser - Commercial and Medi-Cal
• Valley Health Plan - Commercial and Medi-Cal
• Anthem Blue Cross - Medi-Cal Only
• Medi-Cal -  Fee-For-Service Medi-Cal / No MCP
